Artist Biography

Yolande Ardissone was born in Normandy in 1927. At the age of 17 she moved to Paris in order to study art at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, before transferring to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts two years later, where she studied in the atelier of Unterstellar.

Ardissone has travelled throughout the world, although she continues to paint a great deal of her work in Brittany. She has a vivid, impressionistic style strongly influenced by Renoir, Gauguin and Van Gogh; a true colourist, she wonderfully captures the life, movement and excitement of her subjects. Her paintings have been bought by the French Government, the City of Paris, and the Ile-de-France Museum, as well as by numerous private collectors.

Ardissone’s achievements saw her awarded the Silver Medal of Paris. Since 1957, her association with the leading art dealer Wally Findlay has assured her of success in the United States, and her works are displayed all over the world.
