Mapping the Americas

This week's feature is a beautiful and historic map of the Americas, originally published in the 19th century, and displayed by us at the Las Vegas trade show in January.  It received such a positive response from all our visitors to the show that we have decided now to publish it as an open edition print.

The level of detail in the map is fascinating and it is a beautiful addition to our line.

The map was first published in 1853 by Jacob Monk as an original lithograph.  It covers North America and the entire West Indies, going north as far as the Canadian border and south as far as Panama.

The charm of the map lies in its details; it shows much of the westward development of the United States, its trails, major routes, Indian settlements and it is decorated with steam and sailing ships and an elaborate border.
