The Final Frontier: Views from Space

New from Rosenstiel’s is this wonderful pair of views of the earth from space, taken from data and imagery supplied by NASA.

Paper size of both prints:

20 x 40 ins / 50 x 100 cms

The famous Blue Marble double view of the earth was created using data collected by NASA satellites, working to put together the most detailed true-colour image of the earth in countless observations by satellite of land and sea, cloud and ice.

The image for Lights of the World was also collected by NASA from technology originally developed to allow scientists to view clouds by moonlight but it has also subsequently been used to map the locations of permanent lights on the earth’s surface.  The print includes a written explanation of some of the patterns visible on the map, including for example the Trans Siberian Railroad and the Inter-State Highway system in America.

Together, these are a wonderful pair with high educational value especially as we all become more concerned and interested in global and environmental issues.  We are proud to add them to the collection for 2007.
