6 February 2008 marks the anniversary of the tragic Munich air crash, in which eight Manchester United players died.  The date is likely to be commemorated by Manchester United and England fans around the world.

Led by Matt Busby, Manchester United dominated the Championship in the 1950s and his Busby Babes were some of the youngest and best players in British football.  The tragedy struck the heart of British football.  Among those killed were Manchester United captain Roger Byrne, centre-forward Tommy Taylor, inside right Billy Whelan and boy wonder Duncan Edwards.

The Munich air disaster is the principal feature on one of the sixteen most famous newspaper covers from the twentieth century published by Rosenstiel's, all of which can be seen by clicking here.
